Webmaster guide

Match the affiliate programs you choose with the interests of the visitors to your site. For example if you run a car related website, your visitors are likely to be more interested in car accessories than real estate. Some programs have almost universal appeal examples are casinos, dating and pharmacy programs so these may sell well even on an unrelated website.

Exchange links with other webmasters who run similar sites . Search engines like google use backlinks to measure the popularity of your page, a good linking strategy can pay dividends, so long as you link to subject related sites.

Traffic is the lifeblood of your business. Without visitors you wont make sales, without sales you wont make money. There are many traffic promotion websites out there, free click programs, where you click on other websites to earn hits to your own site, but these generally don't convert into sales particularly well as most webmasters are doing the same as you and don't actually take much notice of the sites they are viewing. There are also traffic sites where you pay a small amount of money for a set amount of hits to your site, eg. $10 for 10,000 visits, but beware of some of these as they are worthless hits from obscure locations in third world countries. You will pay a little more to get targetted traffic to your site.
The real way to increase your sales though is to optimise your pages to get better search engine rankings and therefore you get increased organic traffic from people who are interested in what your sites are selling.

Different Affilliate Options

Revenue Share is a deal offering you a percentage of sales generated from your links eg. 20% revenue share. If your customer spends $100 you would get $20. If that customer then re-purchases another $100 then you will earn another $20 and so on.

CPA (cost per acquisition) also known as Pay per Signup (PPS) is when you are paid a flat fee for someone who signs up through your link, but you do not get paid on any further purchases by that customer. eg you have 1 customer sign up and purchase they pay you $100, but if they re-purchase you will not get paid again for that customer.

Pay per click is a small payment for every genuine click you get from your link. eg. If someone sees your link and clicks on it for more information then you will be paid, say $0.50 for that enquiry, but you will not get paid again for the same person clicking the link again.
